Sedbergh Town Band was founded by Alan Lewis. Alan arrived in Sedbergh in 1990, and founded the internationally renowned Sedbergh School CCF Band. He conducted Flookburgh Band through a highly successful period in their history, was trumpet professor at St. Martin's College, Lancaster,

and ACF music advisor for the north of England.

In March 1998, Alan started a brass evening class for local people which due to its popularity

quickly developed into the band that exists today. Alan passed away in 2013, but his legacy

continues under the leadership of his son, Iwan.

The band continues to flourish - we perform concerts in Sedbergh and further afield with a diverse musical repertoire of pop songs and film themes as well as the usual standards, hymns and marches.

New players are always welcome, regardless of experience.
